Classification Known Fragment Motion, Unclassifiable [F-?-2]
Structures 1AON Subunit by X-ray [ PartsList ] 1EGS Loop by TrNOE NMR
Description The 18-residue GroES mobile loop undogoes conformational fluctuations similar to that of a random coil polypeptide with a slight bias toward formation of a hairpin near the center of the loop. The movie shows three conformations that have been trapped by intermolecular interactions: lattice packing in the GroES crystal (structure not yet in the PDB), GroEL binding by a synthetic GroES peptide, and GroEL binding in the native complex.
