Motion in Glycerol Kinase [gk]

[ jump to morphs ]

Classification Known Domain Motion, Shear Mechanism [D-s-2]

Description
Expected to be similar to hexokinase and actin based on structural similarity. However, domain repositioning is accurately described by rigid body motion rather than rearrangement of secondary struture elements. The motion also appears to be directly related to allosteric regulation by the regulator Fructose 1,6-bisphosphate which is a non-competitive inhibitor.
