Motion in F1-ATPase [f1atpase]

[ jump to morphs ]

Classification Suspected Subunit Motion, Not Involving Allostery [S-n-1]

Description
Six globular subunits (3 alpha and 3 beta) are arranged around a long central helix (gamma subunit). Because of the asymmetries in the orientation of the alpha and beta subunits, they are hypothesized to rotate around the central helix. Also comparison of the beta subunits shows that in one of them (beta-E) a sheet has partially unfolded.
