Motion in Bam HI Endonuclease [bamhi]
[ jump to morphs ]
Classification Known Subunit Motion, Not Involving Allostery [S-n-2]
Structures 1BAM Uncomplexed Conformation [ PartsList ] 1BHM Complex with DNA [ PartsList ]
Description Four Changes upon DNA binding: (1) Quaternary change: 19 degree rotation of subunits in dimer moves alpha carbons up to 10 A. (2) Local ordering of 12 residues between strands 3 and 4. (3) Rearrangement of 5 residue loop after helix 6 and kinking in helix 3. (4) Unfolding of C-terminal helix into extended structure. (Most of it becomes disordered.)
Particular values describing motion Annotation Level (1..10) = 2 Maximum CA displacement (A) = 10 Maximum Rotation (degrees) = 19 (For quaternary change) Experimental Methods = x (Traditional x-ray) Creation Date = 19970822 Modification Date = 19970822
